Community Involvement

hesketh.com's roots are in the old-school Internet values of the "gift economy." We believe that what you give freely and with good intentions will be repaid many times over. In other words, we believe in social entrepreneurship. More than just believe, we put our money (and time) where our mouths are by:

  • Actively participating in & supporting local communities where we do business.
  • Providing charitable support to selected not-for-profit organizations.
  • Supporting the charitable interests of our employees.
  • Providing leadership and participation in online community initiatives.
  • Focusing our services to help non-profits, higher education, and social entrepreneurs solve complex problems.

A sampling of our involvement...

South by SouthWest (SxSW) Interactive Conference
An incubator of new, cutting-edge technologies, the SXSW Interactive Festival is ground zero for the world's most creative web developers, designers, bloggers, wireless innovators and new media entrepreneurs. We've been speaking at SXSW for almost a decade. And, CEO Heather Hesketh & CTO Steve Champeon both have a hand in shaping the conference as Advisory Board members. The job of the Advisory Board is to review all panel submissions and provide input to SXSW on what panels will be winners.
Our involvement: advisors and speakers
Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR)
The ALR works to find better treatments and ultimately prevent and cure systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Lupus is an autoimmune disease. So, instead of working to protect you from germs and keep you healthy — which is what the immune system should do — the body literally attacks itself. 100% of the contributions to "Walk with Us to Cure Lupus" funds lupus research. In 2008, hesketh.com was the top fundraiser in the Triangle, surpassing even the top corporate sponsor. We raised almost $1,000 per walker. Now that's results!
Our involvement: corporate sponsor, 2008 top fundraiser, walkers/supporters
City of Oaks Marathon
The name of this Raleigh marathon and half marathon honors the abundance of oak trees and natural areas found in North Carolina's capital city. We encourage you to celebrate the diversity of Raleigh's landscape, from modern city to forest trails and open farmland by participating in or volunteering for this Raleigh marathon and related events.
